In fact, my friends daughter put up a Ukranian mother and daughter for a year. They have now gone back home.

Yawn. I’ll say it again and I’ll type slowly especially for you. If my family and I were being persecuted to the extent that I needed to get them out of the country to safety, I'd take them all and stop at the first safe country we came to. What I would NOT do is leave them there, pìss off on my own, travel through several safe countries, pay thousands to a criminal gang to risk my life crossing the worlds busiest shipping channel in a rubber dinghy and wait for fùck knows how long to get asylum status while they remained behind. What would you do?

Ukrainians come via safe legal route process and most want to go home if ever they can.
Small boat people pay traffickers to jump the queue. They will never be granted citizenship, unless labour changes the law if/when they get in.

have a look at Afghanistan -they in theory have a legal route, but they are escaping the Taliban and cant wait for home office to play their games. So they end up coming by small boats


I dare say if a an Afghanistan citizen who worked with the British army came by small boat, you would be cheering if they got sent to Rwanda

72,000 applied via safe legal routes last year. That doesn't sound like a closed door.
