I have had it switch off ever since new, would try shaking it which normally got it working again but now realised it's switches off due to low light, turn so more light on screen and it switches on again, is there an adjustment for this?

Have Samsung Tab A6 (2016).
Have had no problems thus far.
Can only suggest Settings : Display : Auto Brightness (turn off). This apparently adjusts screen brightness depending upon ambient light.
Maybe combined with very short screen off delay ?

I thought it had cured itself, and it does not happen every time it is used, I turn completely off when not in use, as may be weeks before used again, and it seems some times it boots up with out a problem, and some times this low light switch off seems to raise it's head.

Like with a laptop, when you close the lid it switches off, but unlike the laptop there is no sensor on the hinge, it just detects no light on the sensor. I am sure some where there is a setting to adjust how much light to turn in on, but I can't find it.

Is your 'auto brightness' turned on ?
No lid on our tablet - you have a cover I am guessing.
Our tab is switched off after use.
Starts with Samsung screen when turned on - no long delays.
Cannot find any reference to adjusting brightness sensing, just appears to dim screen when in low ambient light from whatever brightness is set for normal use - when utilising 'auto-brightness' on.
