Hi My Computer Will Not Run The "Scandisc" Or The Defrag" Programs?
On "Scandisc" It Just Stops Whilst Checking The Registry?
And On "Defrag" It Keeps Going Back To "Checking Files" And Does Not Do Much Of a Defragmentation, My OS Is Widows98SE, Any Ideas?

Try scanning the registry for errors first (START>RUN and type SCANREG and press return). It will detect errors and prompt you to fix them.

When you run defrag, it's best to do it from safe mode. This to prevents background applications from causing it to keep restarting

Try typing cmd or command at the Run prompt, then Scanreg in the new window.

Close all windows programs before you De-frag.
Your 98SE should have asked if you wanted all programs to close
