Using Chrome, and this site, when I opened an image this displayed correctly and clearly. However, when I closed the image the page behind seemed to be slightly darker and slowly brightened up again.

It's not a major problem, of course, but is intriguing and I cannot find any sort of explanation in the display settings.

I'd be grateful for any suggestions, thank you.

Was it just for that particular instance?

What monitor make and model do you have?

Thanks Lucky.
No, it's quite a regular occurrence.
Sorry, I should have mentioned it is a laptop.

Some laptops and standalone monitors have poor quality screens. So if you open an image for a very long time and then close it, the colours of the image "tint" the screen for a while. Like I said, that's a hallmark of a poor quality screen.

If it has been exhibiting that behaviour from the beginning, I wouldn't worry. If it has started to exhibit the behaviour now, it's a sign of screen deterioration. Keep an eye on it. If it gets worse, take it to a computer shop for repair or get repaired under warranty if you can.

Thanks again.
No, I hadn't noticed this before. It's only been happening for a few days.
As I said, it's not the end of the world but, if it does get worse, I'll have to do something about it. Unfortunately, the laptop is out of warranty.
