Screwing into plasterboard close together

I have to attach a curtain rod bracket to a plasterboard wall. Below is a photo of the bracket. I was going to use plasterboard fixings like these, but then realised that the points for the screws were too close and the fixings would overlap.

I noticed that another person has had a very similar problem and he ended up using Fischer Universal plugs.

Do you think his suggestion of universal plugs is good? Are there any other options I should consider where I have screws very close together? (I do not want to fix to a batten.)

Of course ideally you'd fix through into studwork or blocks behind.

The fixings you've linked to may be OK, but how heavy are the curtains? This can vary hugely depending on the size and material. I'd say the universal fixings would be OK for lighter curtains. Fit the bracket with the holes top & bottom, not left and right.

I use the Fisher Universal (for 6mm drill) and they are OK but through plasterboard use a 5.5mm drill slowly as it is very easy to get a plasterboard hole oversize. The ribs on the plug need to bite into the plasterboard. I once had to attend to refix a cooker hood fixed unsucessfully to a drylined wall by the owner. As a workaround I used the very long hammer fix anchors with a suitable long screw to get the anchor into the block behind it all. The benifit of those anchor sleeves is they bridge the void! Just put the sleeve in hole like a plug before the bracket is offered up

Yes I should have said - the curtains are light/medium for a bedroom window (1.8m wide).

The internet does seem full of people having problems with plasterboard and curtains. I have just realised today that you can get rings that can passover the brackets. They seem to be aimed at the bay window market, where there is obviously a long pole required. This might give me the flexibility to place the brackets where the studs are. Some sites refer to these as C rings.

You only need to use one fixing,?
Once assembled it will not rotate .
