Question for all you plasterers. Do you scrim over the edges of the angle beading?

I'm not a plasterer but my mate is. I've seen him fit loads and loads of angle bead and I've never seen him scrim over them. Why would you?

Indeed.

Plasters use the beads to run their trowel / straight edges down, they wouldnt be very happy if its covered in scrim tape.

Well there you go. I always run a length of mesh tape up each side of a 3mm thin coat corner bead, and 3mm stop bead. I've seen them crack and that's why I do it. Always keep the mesh tape away from the spine of the bead, by a couple of mil. You NEVER put the scrim tape over the spine of the bead, just along either side. It makes for a far stronger job. Another thing I do is to put a small piece of mesh tape over every screwhead. Each to their own guys.

Lol I thought he meant mesh right over the bead.....must pay attention.
Yea seen some guys tape the edges of the beads, especially round windows, velux etc.

Thanks. I guess it can't hurt to put a bit down the edges. Good idea on the screws, but I used far too many to start with, I'd be there for weeks. Next time.
