I have bought a new oven and a flexible seal strip is provided that fixes onto the top of the outside of the oven to go between the oven and the bottom of the worktop. Unfortunately with this seal in place (it is quite thick and can't really be trimmed) the oven will just not fit flush and without it fits perfectly. Is this strip absolutely necessary and if so is there an alternative that could be used if the gap needs to be filled? It could be fitted further back on the oven but the instructions specifically say that with the type of hob I have the seal must go right at the front. The old oven had nothing like this in place.
