Sealing holes?

Hello one and all, I’m doing a bit of work in my garage and need a bit of help.

I’m putting some stud walls in there but before I do that I want to seal any little holes on the inside and outside. The building is mid 70’s built so naturally bits and bobs are eroding here and there.

I’ll put some photos on and would just like some advise on what I’m best to purchase for the job, I see an awful lot online and YouTube and I can’t seem to find what would be best. I’m completely inexperienced so unfortunately I know nothing.

Also I had a door fitted in there and it looks like he missed a couple spots that I’ll show in the pictures, would some standard expanding foam suffice for that particular part?

It seems there’s also a slight gap or something in places between the top layer of brick and the roof which I’ve tried to show in the pictures, would that just be a case of using some kind of filler?

Re-point with sand/cement on the outside and go wild with the foam on the inside. It helps to dampen the recipient bits with a mist sprayer, prior to foaming.

If you don't have a pro' gun then the next best thing is the Soudal comfort grip.

Thanks for your reply, you wouldn’t recommend cement and sand for the inside then or do you just mean foam for the door? There’s only 2 areas mainly that concern me so I shouldn’t need a lot I don’t think

Hate to be that guy but could you recommend a certain mix? I’ve been on screwfix site and there’s a fair few different ones at different prices, is one better than the other or they all basically do the same thing? Sorry to be a bother I’m a complete novice I’m afraid

Both, although I'm not sure what needs filling internally. Gaps, holes, cracks go for it. If you need to bed a course of bricks or fill in a large masonry hole, then SS obviously.

Mix it 4 sand to 1 cement with a drop of fairy.

I'd be more inclined to use a tube of clear or coloured mastic for what quantities are involved.

Works wonders, should do what you need. They do different colours too.

Cartridge sealants are great when you have straight lines and keen edges. Foam filling is unrivalled when you have large gaps, timber-masonry gaps and irregular (broken brick edges) gaps.
