Seems a bit exaggerated.

... seems a bit over exaggerated.
Seems ? No "seems" about it - it's complete bol...rubbish.

There is no compatibility issue - more likely a load of so called engineers in "all the gear, no idea" mode.

Yup, that's what we thought since we've installed both together and had fewer problems than with the Tado system.

Few quick observations:
1 - He went with the NPower deal, which cost £450 more than the "no free Nest" option. So you ended up paying £450 for a £200-£250 device. This doesn't reflect well on him tbh.
2 - It refers to Nest failing to control his hot water. Nest does not control hot water in the UK, only heating. Only Tado and Hive do heating & HW. So, that's simply wrong. With Nest you have to keep your standard controller/timer for HW management.

(I researched these devices a lot before going with a Tado [self install] but work with plenty of people who use Nest/Hive and other smart systems).

my thoughts where the fuel would be far more expensive to pay for it

Far better and easier ways of achieving the same..as for the article...load of *******s. It's not NPower (British gas) but my other half has a Nest that controls her Vaillant boiler and has not issues at all.
