Hello friends,
What are the points to be considerd when choosing the wire and UG cable? How to calculate the UG cable size when current rating and length is Known?

Hi, When you say UG cable do you mean under ground??
If so it should be SWA (srteel wired armoured) or mechanically protected by plastic or steel ducting or conduit.
Give me the detaild i'll try to work out the calculation

Hi Jim,
Yes Underground cable, armoured cable.
1.My actual dought is on cable or wires SQMM size and current handling capacity.Just imagine (11KV HT line tapped by 300sqmm and conneted to CTPT to (GOS) group operating Switch to VCB)Vaccume circuit Breaker (VCB) capacity is 1250Amps and transformer capacity is 1000KVA-suggested UG cable is 300SQMM.i didn't understood on which calculation 300SQMM cable selected.(aluminium cable)
2. Flexible Cu wires starts from 1SQMM. how to calculate its current handling capacity?

Hi,
Sorry but this is out of my area. I only go up to 1000volt, and normally 600v.
You require the services of an Electrical Engineer who works on HV.
Cable size is selected out of a table and allowances are made using correcting factors for voltage drop, method of installation ect.

Sorry i cant help you more.
Regards JIM
