Hi all.

I’m looking for some advice regarding self levelling my concrete kitchen floor prior to fitting a new kitchen, and laminate flooring. I have come across the Mapei self levelling compound, I’m just wondering which one people would recommend?

Is it worth priming before, and if so, any recommendations on a good primer?

There are a few sections where the concrete is cracked (picture attached), should I fill these in first before I apply the compound?

Many thanks

You don’t want any water mix compound over that sub floor. You need a bag and bottle latex type like -

ardex na
mapei na
Tilemaster pro flow
fball 1200 pro
buy the matching primer.

Just reading on the mapei latex based compound, it says priming normally isn’t required. Would you agree with this?

No mate. In some cases it’s not. But it will need a good scrape with a blade scraper to get anything loose off. Then a vac so no dust at all on the floor. Then get the primer and water it down 4-1

Ah okay great, I’d rather do a proper job so will scrape, prime and then level. Cheers

@dazlight hope you don’t mind me asking, would Primer G from mapei work with the latex NA compound? It says it’s water based, but I can’t seem to find any others?

Many thanks

Would ultrsplan 3240 mapei work at all? I’m looking to save on a £45 delivery charge by going to Screwfix haha

I was looking to see if any flooring distributions near you as they sell to public now.

That’s very kind of you looking for the distributions! The adhesive isn’t raised at all, so there’s nothing as such to scrape of, would that change to being okay to use the 3240?

Up to you mate. As you are putting laminate on top and not bonding anything you should be ok.
