Hello everyone,
We have a build over agreement from our water utilities supplier as we're building near a large sewer pipe that runs between our house and neighbour.
Our neighbour is difficult and asking to see the agreement. I don't see why as it's between us and the utility provider.
Any thoughts on whether we're obliged to share it?
Any laws out there that say we'd have to?

Thanks in advance!

It's your private agreement between you and the water company covering your pipes and the water company's system and is nothing to do with the neighbour.

Yes but....

Unless theres something in it which you want to keep secret from him, why would you not show it to him?

Whether its any of his business or not, what do you gain from refusing and what do you lose from agreeing?

Your neighbour is probably concerned about "shared pipes".
Are they shared pipes?
Or they serve only your property?
If it was me I would just show the agreement to them and make them feel important.

Shared pipes belong to the water company, and are no ones concern but them. That's why build over agreements exist in the first place!

Wouldn't you be concerned if your neighbour built over a shared pipe without agreement with the water company?
I would.
After all, a cracked/blocked pipe would back up and fill with shyte.

Clearly the neighbour is a bit touchy on the subject of the shared alley, and getting all jobsworth and saying to him "the build-over agreement is nothing to do with you" isnt going to help.

Plus, Im not sure he is being entirely unreasonable to have concerns about possible damage to a "large sewer pipe" that runs under his shared alley.

And might start to defuse the tension.

And would probably have taken less time than posting here.
