After noticing some mould and damp on my wall underneath a window, I had someone come out to look at it who said the plaster around the window had blown and needed knocking out and replacing. This was done on Wednesday. I’m a council tenant, so they just sent their contractors around. I overheard them talking to someone on the phone about it being render, not plaster, and there was some confusion about that, but I assumed it got sorted since they continued to plaster the wall anyway. They turned up the next day to paint over the plaster which I was surprised by as to my knowledge plaster should not be painted over so soon.
Looking at the work, it’s pretty appalling - several gaps around the window that I can see the brick through and feel the cold coming in (the whole room actually feels much colder) to say nothing of the paint job. Obviously I’m going to call up and complain, but I’d rather know more about what went wrong and what actually needs to be done this time around so I can make sure it gets done properly this time. Attached some photos of the worst of it.
