Should billionaires and multinationals pay fair tax?

How much is lost on offshore havens. Not by the lower paid, is it.

Tax needs to be collected, its that simple.
Employment rights here are already weak compared to lots of places in Europe and you want them even weaker.

Not weaker. But we do have an advantage over the countries I mentioned. There isn’t much point having employment rights if your job is being offshored.

Sunak is doing exactly that
Nonsense. Tax on the wealthy has increased massively under the torries.

45% tax threshold has dropped, personal allowance gone. Caps on the bands so that more people trickle in to the higher brackets.

So the score so far is

Motorbiking - No

diy_fun - No

Everybody else - Yes

I have a feeling the vote will be more that 52%:48%

Which we all know is a massive democratic mandate.

No I’m a yes.

Tax needs to be fair. At the moment too much is paid by too few and too many go overseas to pay none.

The answer is not silly global treaties which go nowhere and do nothing other than satisfy a few useful idiots and some less useful idiots. Oh and you… no wait I covered you already.

Nonsense.

Nobody is ask for the person on very little income to pay more tax.

Sunak is doing exactly that

I am (un)amazed that you pretend not to know that freezing of tax allowances has dragged low paid people and pensioners into paying income tax.

Tax on the wealthy has increased massively under the torries
has it though?

and yet the wealth of the wealthy has increased massively in the last 14 years

and a massive amount of assets has been transferred from the poor to the rich over the last 14 years

maybe the wealthy earn much in income but earn it in assets

The answer is not silly global treaties

Weakening the ability of the rich to play off one country against another, and threaten to move, will reduce their ability to dodge tax.

This is achieved by international agreement.

I know plenty of pensioners who pay 45% tax. Are you suggesting they shouldn’t ?

Has the freezing resulted in :
A the wealthy paying more tax and a higher proportion of tax
B the less wealthy paying more tax and the wealthy paying less tax.

Hint. Not b

Let me know when the UAE signs up

Tell me more about these poor people who transferred their assets ?

You do understand that the income tax stats published by the government are based on tax receipts.

1% paying 28% of all income tax. hardly seems fair.

1% paying 28% of all income tax. hardly seems fair.

Unless it is a result of inequality

Which it is.

You are still pretending that there is no advantage in being very rich.

I'd be quite satisfied with a taxable income that resulted in me paying a million pounds tax.

I'm a yes.

They're already paying a fair amount of tax.

Fact.

Fair is dependent upon your view point.

The better off paying more is generally fair.

The system and loopholes could be better though

What's the income of the 1% compared to the other 99%
