How do I shut down my account? Unlike almost all other websites there is no user options on here to delete shutdown

Just stop posting Q & A and you will soon fade away.
I don't know how to do it (other than by messaging DIYnot and asking them) but you should have the option of deleting your account and for DIYnot to delete you details from their servers.
Information posted on diynot does not generally contain personal identifying information so there is no "data" to protect. Presumably freezing a user account and preventing use of the search facility is as far as the mods can or need to go. Removing contributions from posters would be difficult if not impossible, where people are qouted or involved in an ongoing discussion. That said the forum could do with clear guidance on what would be considered inappropriate comment or language.
