I have just inherited a Wadkin MG Morticer

The plate on the front states that it is single phase but it has 4 wires that are labeled L1 L2 A1 A2. Can this be wired to an MEM switch as I have one spare, and how do I wire it together

I have wired 3 phase machinery before but because of the 4 wires on this I'm stuck

Many thanks

Yes should be compatible. Can you show us the motor terminals / connections please

Hi, the wires are coming out of the motor casing, I can't get the casing to come off but I have photos of the wires

There are many ways to wire a single phase motor, with centrifugal switches, capacitors, and timers, I remember the Flyght pumps for example needed a special relay box which had the capacitors in the box, but more normal to have the capacitors clamped to motor, and some have non and just use a centrifugal switch.

Unless you are lucky enough to find some one who has same motor, or have the original wiring, it will be hard working out how wired, with the data sheets some times you can work out which is run winding and which is start, but without the data sheet I know to my cost hard to work out which is which, I know I got it wrong with a Flyght pump and it ran OK but not for long before burning out.
