i was on talktalk, just changed to Sky broadband. I have changed the outgoing smtp settings to smtp.tools.sky.com

I have checked on the sky website and this is the correct outgoing address.

i can receive mail ok but when i try and send i get the error..

Task '[email protected] - Sending' reported error (0x8004210B) : 'The operation timed out waiting for a response from the sending (SMTP) server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

that looks ok for outgoing server:

incoming should be pop.tools.sky.com

in further settings you should set incoming server to 995 and outgoing to 25

and a tick in the box for 'my server needs verification'

have you set up on sky email as well..?

i have not setup sky email, this email is for mail from my own website. will the incoming mail server still stay the same as pop3.mywebsite.co.uk

thanks

in advanced - outgoing mail port should be 465 and SLL box should be ticked for outgoing also.

in servers - outgoing mail server - 'my server requires authentication' box ticked. then in settings - you need to tick 'login using' you need you put your 'SKY Username and password'

which will be '[email protected]'

this will be the same username and password you use to login to www.sky.com email system.

if you dont have it, you will need to ring sky to get it.
