Hello
Around my windows there was some wooden trim. It was ugly and badly painted, so I removed it. Underneath was the timber frame of the house, and some rough brick edges etc.
I intend to get a reasonably neat finish to this as we are painting the walls.
I have a plan and I'd like some more experienced DIY'ers or Pros to offer advice.
1) Cut plasterboard (stanly knife?) to the approximate size required.
2) Fit plasterboard with screws into the timber frame.
3) Use angle bead or stop bead to finish the edges. What's the difference?
4) Use a ready-mixed product to skim over the surface where the screwheads are, and to fill any gaps left by untidy cutting.
I admit, this probably isn't going to be the finest piece of plastering or wall finishing ever. However, I have little choice due to time and money.
Can anyone suggest things that would either a) improve the finished result, b) increase the lifespan of the work or c) speed up the process and still provide a reasonable finish?
