Smart Switch Installation

Hi everyone,

I have managed to change most of the old switches in my house for smart switches but I'm having an issue with the hallway. It is a single switch that is linked to the landing. (I really don't know the terminology so forgive me lol).
The hallway switch has a common and two switch wires... Plus earth obviously. There's no neutral wire but the smart switch comes with a capacitor. I would change the landing switch but, when I tried that in my kitchen, neither switch worked. So I have an old switch and a smart switch in there. That said, the old switch is obsolete now. I'm guessing the same will be said for the landing light switch.
Anyway, let's get back on track. I have attached two diagrams which are identical to what I am working with. How would I wire the smart switch please?

There are smart switches which can be wired as two way, however both switches need to be electronic, and in some cases the master and slave are diffrent switches.

One needs to follow manufactures instructions, there is no standard method, Energenie for example sell the master and slaves as pairs, and I have never found the slave for sale without the master they have to be bought as pairs.

I have found one make with only two wires between the switches.

The load capacitor is often only required with small bulbs, needed to use one with G9 bulbs.

There are also relays which can be put with the light fitting and use standard switches with the relay.

However using smart switches do you really need hard wired remotes? I have used hand held push button remotes with Energenie, and magnetic backed push button which also has a turn function with TP-Link (Tapo) switches which are battery powered so no need for load capacitors.

You can of course also use smart bulbs.

It does seem odd to only have two wires, and no idea if the Livolo diagram will work, also seen similar wiring for an electronic dimmer switch. Another one here although it says not wifi, and one here and this one uses a relay at the lamp. this thread may help
