Could someone kindly tell me the difference between the first and last icon?

One's a house and one's a bell?

I know that bit, but what is the difference in terms of information displayed when I click on them?

The house is a link to 'Home', in other words back to the home page.
The bell is to 'Alerts'. This 'bell' (top right corner) has the same function.

And this is the 'Home' button on here, (top left corner)
