I have too bits of software SM Tether for Nikon and Pentax Remote Assistance both able to exert some control over my Nikon D7000 and Pentax K10D the latter is far better linked than Nikon so although Nikon is the better camera looking at the Pentax software in the main.
Both bits of software work well in well lit areas other than having to run as administrator quite straight forward but as light levels fall both fail and although using a low resolution 2M Jpeg rather than RAW does help it still fails.
There is the common bar line showing the camera is transferring the picture to the PC when all is well this will move across up to three times but once that down load time is exceeded it keeps on for maybe 20 passes then in the end fails.
So it would seem if the information is not transferred within a set time it fails. As light levels drop the time taken by camera to build an image increases so time out camera to PC also needs to increase any idea how to do this?
