Squeaky clutch Astra 2018

Hello,

My clutch has developed a squeak over the last couple of weeks. It’s horrible and happens when you press and release the clutch.

I have extended warranty on my car but the dealer are saying it’s going to cost £150 for diagnostic and if it’s wear and tear it’s not covered.

I’m wondering if this is ever likely to be a wear and tear issue or if this is a fault with the car?

The car is a Vauxhall Astra 1.4t SRi 2018

From your description it sounds like you have a howling clutch release bearing......the clutch is of course a 'wear and tear' item but do check the warranty fine print. A lot can depend on how long you've had the car, and it's mileage whether the dealer would play ball, but fight them hard!

I’ve had the car coming up on 1 year and the mileage is 26k.

Looking at the mileage, I reckon you've got a reasonable claim there, but the garage will no doubt disagree......a lot depends on how the car has been driven in the past.
I'd object to paying the diagnostic fee too - all they have to do is sit in the car and press the pedal! Bloody ridiculous.
