Stabilisation

My ISP has just upgraded my line (without warning me!) for free. Trouble is that this has necessitated a 5 day stabilisation period, which means that my internet is going very slow; for example I cannot watch youtube clips since this requires a flash10 upgrade which keeps timing out. So the question is, why does it take 5 days to stabilise anything?

Basically the DSLAM has a load of ip profiles, on initial take-on the provide an ip profile suited to your , then, speeds and responses.

Of course this isn't very accurate as your initial ip profile might be attributed during an off (or on) peak time in which case you may suffer over or under performance.

They detect this and load a different ip profile, so basically "stabilisation" just fine tunes their configuration to your line conditions.
