Hi,

I'm planning to get a much bigger towel rail for our en suite, as its starting to feel cold! First winter in new house.

Refit will happen early next year, but I am thinking that adding the new towel rail as part of some other (hopefully imminent) work will be best for the winter.

Planning to go stainless steel for longevity and would like maximise heat output. Limited to max of 450mm wide, but seemingly 350/400 are more common sizes. Aiming for a flat ladder style about 1200-1500 high, nothing too fancy or overpriced!

Any recommendations for the towel rail/suppliers?

These are some contenders:-

We went for chromed steel and bought the rails from Warmrooms. However towel rails have a disappointingly low output especially when covered with towels so go a size or two bigger than you think necessary, especially if your house is old and poorly insulated. I think the bloke at Warmrooms is called Cliff; he has always been very willing to advise.

Thanks for that reply. I will give them a call.

The last chrome rail we had started to show quite a lot of corrosion spots, nothing serious, but it stopped looking good.

Perfectly happy to change a chrome rail a few times over, but thinking that SS might be best

Is there any other heating source in your bathroom, just asking as the towel warmer heat output needs to match the heat requirement of that room.

White powder finished towel warmers give out more heat than chrome finished of the same size, dont know if stainless steel do the same thou.

i have used many products from Zehnder also have 2 of their Altai Spa single Radiators, very good product.

The towel rail is (will be) the only heat source. The room is 2m x 1.5m and the current towel rail is small with a very low heat output, with a large window (1.2m X 1.2m) on the only external wall.

I am going to reduce the size of the window to 0.7m X 1.2m and add some insulation to the external wall as part of the refurb, as well as increase the size of the towel rail.

The Zehnder Stellar rails are really nice, but the price is eye watering!

Thank you for the wise words.

I'll see how common sense works on the Wife. Shame not of the bathroom showrooms can mix style with practicality!

Not stainless, but how about this? 10 year warranty and a good output in a towel rail style, at a reasonable price
