I will agree with anyone who says this is not a DIY disasrter as I am not doing it myself but it is a disaster.
Why is life so difficult at times? My wife finds it difficult to get up and down the stairs to our home (we are in a first floor flat). We talked about it and decided to get a stairlift. We asked three companies for a price. The first one was eye wateringly expensive but the other two were a lot lower and similar.
One had a good salesperson, and we paid a deposit and were told they would phone on Monday to arrange a date to fit it. They did not phone so I phoned them and was told it would be fitted on the Friday. At 17:00 on the Thursday someone phoned to say that they could not source the parts so it would be fitted the next week, but she had no idea when. I cancelled that order as their customer service was so poor. They agreed to refund my deposit.
I then phoned the other reasonably priced company and paid a deposit, and it was arranged that the installer would come today. He arrived as arranged but when he unpacked the track it only reaches about halfway up our stairs, someone had messed up when packing it. The installer was good, he facetimed his boss and someone else showing them the problem. He hopes that he will be able to get the parts and fit it tomorrow.
How hard is it to measure a track and get it to the correct length? There are two boxes, and each box is clearly marked as containing 1371mm length of track but the quote states that we need 5063mm. It seems that we are missing 2321mm of track.
I felt sorry for the installer as he had driven 150 miles from Newcastle to get here but could not do the job.
