After being let down by several structural engineers wondering if anyone on here will be able to help me.
I purchased a new house 4 months ago and the garage is my next project. Water has been getting in for several years and it has rotted the existing suspended floor rendering it useless.
The current set up is steel beams with corrugated steel sheeting and a 3 inch concrete slab on top. the steel is resting on brick at each side and has a wall in the middle and a brick surround around the pit. The garage is 6mx5m and has a cut out for a pit. The front of the garage meets the road and is 7ft high, the back is 10ft high
My plan was to do a like for like replacement, but I have seen block and beam used in similar projects I am just worried about concrete block and beams strength to take a 2 tonne vehicle jacked on it.
Will block and beam be sufficient or will I be better placed looking into steel products.
Apologies if this is unclear but if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.
Kind Rgds
