Hi,

Suspended floor needs replacement due to woodworm infestation, on the quote I got they mention , one of the work will be "replacement the original terracotta air bricks with high efficiency plastic ventilation" - this because of "lack of ventilation to the sub floor".

Of course I will ask them to provide info about what type/specs of those plastic air bricks, but is this a good idea to replace them or just a attempt to inflate the final bill?

current a/bricks are the from '30s (8 3/4" x 5 1/2") .

thanks!

Modern plastic are much more efficient, look at your terracotta ones the holes look big but they taper to smaller than a pencil in most cases because of the way they were molded. plastic maintain the size throughout much better for the same size brick.(y)
