The Budget 2024.

Why?

do you think EU workers carry germs?
The South Africans thought U.K. workers might and made sure nothing was brought into the country and made steps to ensure that if it was, the insurance companies picked up the bill for that and not the South African health service. I think we are seeing a re emergence of certain diseases we had got rid of being brought into this country again. Any idea how that is happening?

You implied EU workers might carry diseases

I note you’ve zero evidence.

Yawn. Just going round in circles here.
Freedom of Movement provided a flexible arrangement for people to work across 28 countries.

Now we don’t have it the U.K. has considerable shortage of workers.

And British people don’t have the freedom to live, work, retire in 28 countries.

But apparently you don’t want that because you say they are carrying diseases……

And yet there is still a shortage of workers on all 27 EU countries even though nasty Britain has sent them home. Why is that?

I implied nothing of the sort. I also didn’t imply that South Africa thought that British workers might carry diseases. I stated the fact that they wanted a health check and health insurance before being granted a work permit in 1981. Don’t you think it prudent that anyone working in this country from abroad be checked for their health and be insured to remove any possible burden in the U.K. health system before being granted a permit to work? I mean, it’s a bit self defeating if we allow farmer Giles to import cheap labour from abroad if the British taxpayer is going to be saddled with thousands of pounds of health treatment for that person.

It's good to know that workers in UK pay tax and National Insurance, so contributing to public services including the NHS, as well as helping national productivity.

As foreign workers tend to be relatively young and healthy, they impose much smaller costs than the native population, which is increasingly not of working age, and need more healthcare, more often, for longer.

Then they should pass a health check with ease and be relatively cheap to insure. What’s the problem with them doing that?

I know this is not what some on here want to hear but this is what we have and it is VERY expensive to treat. This is just Hep B and there are many other diseases imported to this country. 95% are migrants and they are probably responsible for giving it to the 5% on U.K. residents. Why are we letting these people in unchecked?

Ask the Government, they are the ones in control of our borders

So you agree that they should be checked?
I merely answered your question.

We didn't seem to have these issues before brexit. But now our borders seen to be wide open.

It's you that wanted " control of our borders". You've got it and still not happy.

Only to those that come here illegally. That’s nothing to do with Brexit though, is it because I don't see boat loads of French and Germans coming across the channel, do you?

the 27 countries have more flexibility than isolated brexit Britain

So its still a greater problem for the UK
