The Budget 2024.

I implied nothing of the sort.
yes you did

you replied to a post which was specifically referring to EU freedom of movement:

"That applies to just about every other country in the developed world too. What’s wrong with them applying to become a seasonal worker if there’s a need for them? Do you think though, that they should come with a clean bill of health, a place to live and health insurance for the duration too?"

Only to those that come here illegally. That’s nothing to do with Brexit though, is it because I don't see boat loads of French and Germans coming across the channel, do you?
Brexit promised that we could "control our borders"

now you are saying brexit cant control our borders

Stop being daft - If that’s at all possible. I see nosey has swerved the question. Would you like to have a go at it? Didn’t think so.

the 27 countries have more flexibility than isolated brexit Britain

So its still a greater problem for the UK
They can be as flexible as they like, they can’t magic up workers though, can they? And you want to add to their shortages by poaching them to serve you your burger and chips or do a cheap plumbing job? Shame on you.

Brexit and illegal immigration are not connected. Stop trying to connect them.
Yes they are

The vote leave campaign said: “take back control of our borders”

Brexit voters believed that to be true

Brexit has caused shortages of workers in the UK

You can twist yourself inside out as much you like, it doesn’t alter the reality.

Yes, it has caused a shortage. We now need to fill that shortage with our own workers and that won’t happen overnight. Haven’t you seen the wages go up for British workers? That’s a good thing. Sure, it might take you longer to get your burger served up and force you to wash your own car but that’s a price worth paying in my mind.

That was about controlling workers coming to this country, not illegals.

When you strip out the Ukraine and other relief schemes, legal immigration is more than 100K a year higher than before Brexit and is forecast to remain so until at least the end of the decade.

I may have misunderstood! Did you mean it's OK that the numbers are high because at least we have control over them?

Yes. I mean they are not just free to come over and work just because they are in the EU. We say who we want to come in (and likewise, other countries say which Brits they want to allow in to work in their country).

I did and I told you that the Tories have stiffened up the application laws, just to make it more difficult for low paid (seasonal) workers to come here. There is nothing to stop them applying - it's just that they won't stand a chance of getting approved - i.e. pointless.

No. They are nowhere near as free as when we were in the EU. The low paid low skilled have got little chance unless they are sponsored etc. I suppose it means wealthy Tories will have their servants.

It will never happen

So you support the RMT Union fighting for better pay and conditions?

(Note: RMT is not train drivers, it’s mostly platform staff and engineering maintenance)

Better wages for workers needs strong unions, you must support Labour’s policy if repealing anti union laws

If you support wages going up for workers then you must be a left wing Labour supporter as you must want a fairer wealth distribution?
