The restrictive workers visas will never be attractive enough to encourage the workers we need here.I did and I told you that the Tories have stiffened up the application laws, just to make it more difficult for low paid (seasonal) workers to come here. There is nothing to stop them applying - it's just that they won't stand a chance of getting approved - i.e. pointless.
The fact is immigration has always been an emotive political topic, both Conservative and Labour have always said they will be tough on immigration….yet they never are. Why? A = because govts know U.K. has an aging population and it needs young workers to grow the economy.
Here is a perfect example: the current Brexit Tory govt made a big noise about tough points based system, then they introduced a fairly low limit for care workers and allowing their families too…..but there was no proper system of checks so loads of people not working in care, got in.
