If they are that bad, after 14 years of being in opposition, why are the opposition still the opposition? Must be a reason…..
Basically, a conservative - with a small "c" - country.
System sets up that it's only ever going to be one of two parties take power, with Conservative being advantaged by my first point.
The electorate don't want reality; Tories - especially in recent years - have no compunction about giving them an "alternative reality"
The meeja is owned and run by the RW, in the main.
The average punter thinks they're both cleverer than the average, and harder-working. Which makes them lean towards Conservative government ("I don't need no jumped-up pen-pusher telling ME how to do my job!", "I ain't supporting no scroungers / the yoof today don't know hard work: that's why I afforded to buy my house (conveniently forgetting the 50% off
)and they can't.")
Because of their ideology (small state, profits for shareholders as opposed to services for the public), Tory governments tend to let out infrastructure crumble. Labour are then on a hiding to nothing: because of my previous points, they'll likely not get more than one term. Which is nowhere near long enough to come close to fixing the issues.
So, the shout will go up, "I gave you a chance, and you did f##k all with it: I'm going back to Cons!" or, "Christ! Look at how much debt they're running up! Typical Labour.............", neglecting to consider that the Tories weren't good with the economy; just, that they were avoiding maintaining the UK.
And all of the above from someone who voted Cons from the 80s, until Johnson took the helm.
