Hi,

I have a lovely new 40mm thick sapele tabletop and want to use threaded inserts to attach the metal legs.
Can anyone recommend the best inserts to use with hardwood? They need to be M8x30mm.

Thanks

These are pretty good:
Not quite 30mm but you could drill the pilot hole deeper to accommodate the extra threaded length on the legs.
They can also be unscrewed and refitted with araldite if necessary.
If the four legs are individual, you'll get huge leverage on them of course so care will be necessary with these fixings.
John :)

Sorry, I should have been more clear. These are the legs I am trying to fit. There are 8 holes in the top rail on each. Are inserts still the way to go?

You will need to have some form of attachment which allows the timber and the metal to expand and contract at different rates. I'd possibly prefer some form of stretcher/angle plate and good, old fashioned wood screws
