£60 at Specsavers isn’t bad. I was paying £80 a time for mine at click hearing. I tried to book for today but they say I must use ear drops for 5 days before the appointment to soften the wax. The first time I went, they pulled a cigarette sized plug of wax from each ear!

During one swim training session, we were doing one lap, then climbing out, to then do a racing dive back in.
Rinse and repeat, many times.
Later that evening, a big lump of dark brown ear wax dislodged itself from my ear, and tumbled out.
I guess it was due to repeated pressure changes, from the diving in.

Many years ago I went to the docs with a popping and whooshing in my ears, he had look, no wax in there come back in a month, went on holiday and spent hours in the pool, lots of water in my ears and lo and behold, plugs of wax from both ears came out
I found an 1/2” socket in mine that I’d lost months before.

By the side of the bath, I keep a small, fine jetted squirty bottle filled with hydrogen peroxide 3%. Every few weeks, I squirt into one ear at a time, ear uppermost, and the H2O2 dissolves the wax, and cleans each ear in turn.
Sometimes, the bought H2O2 is 6% - that should never be used as is, the reaction will be too fierce, generating heat. I cut the 6% H2O2 with an equal amount of tap water before use, 9% with three parts water.
You squirt it in deep as you can, then just lie there in the bath, letting the H2O2 fizz away, reacting with the wax, until the reactions ends. Then just rinse.
I once discussed hearing my heartbeat, with a specialist. The specialist said it was quite normal, normally you do not hear it, because your brain filters the noise out and simply ignores the noise, but the noise is always there.

That jogged my memory. I have one of those. I should use it more often.
I've just put some drops in but I think I’ll book up and have a pro clean out next week once it’s loosened up. I’ll report back with my findings…..
Slippery slope - your ears are self-cleaning (of wax).
Chewing, talking, and showering / bathing all help the natural movement - outwards - of any build-up.
Once you go down the treatments route, it's a train you might end up stuck upon.
I think it’s too late - I’m well onboard. I've had three microsuctions in the last 7 years. Feel great afterwards.
The active ingredients in that, are H2O2 and olive oil. You are paying for a name on the bottle, and the convenience. A large bottle of H2O2 costs £2.50. Olive oil, is usually kept in the pantry.
