Toshiba C50 windows 8 updating but stuck

Basically its a new laptop. Windows 8 OS. Installed updates, configures, tells e not to turn it off, then says updates 100% complete and do not turn off computer, and it just stays there and doesn't do anything. Stuck like that now for 45 minutes......

What should I do?

turn it off,ive recently had the same on mine,albeit a win 7 hp g7 pavillion.
think it got a bit jumbled and just froze.so i turned mine off and restarted still took a while to restart but as soon as it did went through various virus checks etc and then went back to an earlier time just in case the windows update was corrupted.
