Hi all

I want to replace a load of panelling on my old shed. I've found some shiplap to match what's there but it's softwood and untreated.

What's the best stuff to use to give it a good 10 years of life outside in the wet?

Can I use creosote? Or is there something more suitable?

all external timbers need to be fully pressure treated to last and finnished with a protective coating every 3 or four years
if its off the ground you will probably be ok as rot only happens where you get a constant 19% moisture for months on end

Creosote was banned for domestic use.

So no (unless you get it by bending the rules, or buy a pretend 'creosote' that's not much use).

Buy pre pressure treated timber like big-all suggests, don't cut corners.

If you buy copper organic treated timber this does not need coating, though it looks a bit like arse.
