Looking at getting our ash tree tree reduced down in size. Probably about two stories high at the moment.

What sort of cost so you think I'd be looking at, so get an idea of what a good quote my be.

I intend to use a legit one off Checkatrade. The amount of non-registered company trucks I've had knocking on my door about it is getting on my tits!

I've got a figure in my mind of £250 to £300 for some reason. This is South East for reference.

Cheers

My daughter lives in SE and paid £650 to have a tree removed this year. That was about 2 stories but taken down, chipped and removed to about 12 inches.

Yikes, ok thanks. Hopefully couple of hundred less for just pruning/crown reduction then.

You ought to wait until the dormant season when they can see the framework and cut branches can fall easier .My Son is a tree surgeon who works with his skilled groundie who points to branch cuts with a laser pointer so the tree shape is maintained .
TBH, for £300 I wouldn't expect much of an insured expert and wouldn't entertain someone from checkatrade or the likes..It can be more time consuming to reduce a tree than bring it down....go by recommendation.
