Trump assassination attempt.

What a cock up. All sketchy at the moment. Appears that the shooter was on the roof of a barn just over 100 metres away. Some people claimed to have seen him crawling about beforehand and pointed him out to police who did nothing. A police/secret service sniper was on a roof nearby and started shooting back. A few people in the crowd were hit but so far no fatalities have been mentioned.

Ironically a few months ago...

"Former President Donald Trump, the Republican frontrunner in the 2024 presidential race, said on Friday he had firmly protected gun rights while in the White House and vowed if re-elected to undo all restrictions enacted by President Joe Biden"

I guess he nearly 'took one for the team' (The NRA) ;)

The former president was showing off a chart of border crossing numbers when the shots, at least five, were fired. Trump was seen holding his ear and got down on the ground. Agents quickly created a shield around him. When he finally stood, his face bloodied, he pumped his fist to cheering supporters. Trump and his motorcade left the scene and he was checked into a medical facility.

The attack was the most serious attempt to assassinate a president or presidential candidate since Ronald Reagan was shot in 1981.

Probably not worth bothering with an election now, Donald's already won. (y)

Possibly...

But given your 'thumbs up', do you then approve of the US having a president who supported an attempt at sedition that left 5 people dead?

Interestingly it's being reported that the shooter was a registered republican...

But given that it's such a divisive period in a country awash with guns and fanaticism, one wonders how many more will die :(

Past experience shows that banning guns doesn't stop our politicians being harmed.

Only this month a whole political party was slaughtered at the election.

It doesn’t matter what measure he took to blend in with republicans, he’s now a dead ex-stupid young man who just threw his life away trying kill another.

One thing great about the U.K., when Labour won there were no riots, no protest. Just calm transfer of power to the next. The majority didn’t vote Labour, but we accept democracy.
