What is fully trv system and does it have room thermostat in circuit?

Trv system is just the rad valve with numbers on.

These should usually be set around 3.5.

You will usually have a room stat still, otherwise the boiler won't know when to switch off

No TRV should be fitted to the rad in the room with the room stat though.

..and one radiator must NOT usually be fitted with a TRV, unless there is a bypass fitted.

Idea is, that separate temperatures can be set in different rooms, using a TRV, which allows some extra economy in running costs. I understand TRV's are now a required fitting, when a new boiler is installed, but well worth having them anyway.

Bit pointless fitting a TRV to leave it on maximum setting surely?

Handy if you ever decide to move the room stat location (particularly a wireless one that presents no restrictions in doing so for the homeowner).

Incidentally, I prefer to remove the TRV head and loosely fit the decorators cap. Reduces inadvertent adjustment by those used to 'tweaking' the TRV heads.

My mum has a wireless thermostat. She spends some time in her lounge and some time in her bedroom and she takes the stat with her. Neither room has a TRV.

Great! (y)

It does reveal exactly why TRVs are worthwhile fitting though as the room the stat is no longer in will no longer be controlled in your Mum's setup. It's not the end of the world though so you/she shouldn't feel under pressure to change anything, particularly if she's constantly on the move.

Whenever I go round there though, it’s a fking sauna but she feels the cold so it suits her.

By "Fully TRV system" there could be another possibility, that is a system with no room thermostat and TRVs on all the radiators. This can work with a thermal store where the store water is always hot, and the boiler is controlled by a cylinder stat. Then you can put TRVs on all the rads, and use a smart pump that throttles down when all the TRVs close. It is a very comfortable system as the heat is always on, you set all rooms independently, and the boiler does not cycle.
