TV Aerial for a boat, any recommendations

Evening, after giving help here for awhile I now need some.

I`ve just brought a boat on Norfolk Broad which didn`t have a tv. I`ve brought a 12/240v tv/ dvd combo and now looking for recommedations for the aerial and coax. Is the WF100 coax that much better? Distance from aerial to tv will be around 3m. Any boat owners here that can speak from experiance, like the looks of https://www.arthurschandlery.co.uk/...idirectional-analogue-digital-tv-antenna.html or the https://www.visionplus.co.uk/shop/status-antennas/ but the status have difffernt models and I don`t know the difference betweeen them all so any help is much appreciated, it`s just for freeview channels not sky.

Excellent advice on that site. I have a boat and tried all the fancy flying saucer and curly wurly ones and they do not work. Waterways are, usually, the lowest points around so radio and tv signals have a hard time getting to the antenna. Also do not forget that different transmitters orientate the signal differently so some will require your antenna to be horizontally polarised and others vertically. You need to mount a log periodic on a pole as high as you can get it taking into account your boats air draft, nothing more embarrassing than knocking your arial down when you go under a bridge. It's also highly unlikely that your telly will work whilst you are on the move so if you have kids who get bored get a DVD player and some DVDs or put some MP4s on to a usb stick and make sure your telly can read and play MP4s. When you moor you will need to know which transmitter you will receive from and the orientation of that transmitter's signals and turn your antenna directionally and orienationally to suit that signal. I would think though that as long as you stick to the Broads that area will be served by one transmitter so once you have set your arial and tuned your telly all should be good. I have a narrow boat so tend to cruise in different areas on different canals etc.

It’s aerial. Arial is a computer typeface.

The Broads may well be served by one transmitter but boats do turn around so you will still need to adjust your aerial after mooring.
 
There are android apps that will tell you which direction to point your aerial.

Oh, another thumbs up for the ATV site, I have used them too and they are very good.
 
DM log periodic as recommended by ATV will do you well. if you are on the broads the nearest main transmitter will be Tacelneston
