UFH wet not feeling warm (Ed.)

We are currently undergoing renovations and have a feeling our plumber has messed up our under floor heating.

It goes insulation sheet the pipes through and around the joists with some sand cement I’m not sure of the technical name then he has used some sort of thick chip board. On top of this leveller then anti crack mat then finally the tile. The floor is warmish in spots!

Any advice here, I’m starting to feel like we may have spent a lot of money on something that doesn’t work? Thanks

Depends on the rest of your build; my UFH doesn't feel warm because it runs at 24 degrees; cooler than body temperature but warmer than the room it is striving to heat to 19. If my UFH ever feels warm, something is wrong or my feet are very cold

How well insulated are your walls and ceilings? Do you have an infrared or stick-on tape style thermometer (used for brewing) you can use to determine the flow temperatures in the underfloor pipes at the manifold?

The house is well insulated. It has been on for two weeks. Does the wood above the pipes stop heat coming through?

It's far more insulating than a floor covering like LVT, yes. Thinner laminates will be more transmissive than thicker engineered woods. The underlay needs to be chosen carefully too
