Hello, if an appliance that is normally used in the UK that is protected by the fuse only found within the mains plug then has a schuko plug fitted instead of the UK plug (there by removing all fusing for the appliance) and the appliance sold into the Italian market what are the consequences?

Apart from I'm thinking of burning down the building with people in should a fault arise type consequences..

Is there a legal requirement for a fuse to be fitted within the equipment according to Italian/European law or is expecting the protection to come via the supply (CU) acceptable?

The plug fuse is only required in the UK where sockets are connected to a 32A circuit, and is only for the protection of the flex, not the appliance.
Outlets in Europe are normally on 16 or 20A circuits, and a fused plug is not required.
The appliance does not require a fuse, all electrical appliances sold within the EU are designed to work in all EU countries without modification, so there is no issue at all in removing a UK plug and fitting a different one suitable for Italy or any other EU country.

Cheers guys, you confirmed what I have been reading.
