UK/Rep of Ireland Wiring Regs

General question, does anyone know the differences, if any between the National Rules for Electrical Installations ET101 :2004 in Ireland and BS7671 here in the UK.I work for a firm of contractors in the UK and we have just picked up a lot of work in Ireland needing design. I assume they will be pretty similar but before I fork out for a copy of the regs some guidence would be appreciated.

are theese rules statutory?

if so i wonder if there is an equivilent standard clause that would allow wiring to BS7671?

there seem to be such things in a hell of a lot of laws and similar documents theese days...
