Hi,
I recently had a plumber put in a downstairs toilet. For the soil pipe exit point from the house he used an underfloor air vent to the outside to join the main stack (I was not happy when I saw that).
Now I need to drill a hole into the wall to replace the lost air vent. I have a 4" diamond core for the job and my question is a simple one: is there any structural problem with drilling a new air vent - I am worried the new vent is close to the ground and adding the hole my cause structural cracks (any chance of that?).
The house is 1950's 9" cavity block but the diamond core would be going through the wall at the point where the cavity block is laid on to 4" solids.
Any comments?
Thanks
John
