Underfloor heating in conservatory

Hi folks,

I have a combo boiler and radiator system across the house. I would like to put underfloor heating in my existing conservatory, I would like to have water instead of electric because of the energy saving. Theres a radiator on the wall in the house next to the conservatory.

I want to know a couple of things...

1. Can I connect underfloor heating to the radiator with a standard trv on either the flow or return, assuming I could get one which is allows me to connect mid pipe?

2. If I can't connect directly to the pipes can I use something else?

3. What products are recommended for either of the two options above?

I'm pretty competent at DIY and building work in general but not an expert.

What you propose won't comply with Building Regulations, as you're not permitted to connect heating for a conservatory to the same system as the rest of the house. That being said, there aren't any building regs police until such time as you come to sell your house, at which point a sharp-eyed surveyor may pick it up and you'll have to disconnect it.

You need to use a proper underfloor heating kit, you can't just throw some pipe in the floor and put a TRV on it as it will get too hot. You need something like a Nu-Heat OneZone LoPro Max kit
 
Thanks for the reply, I should have elaborated a bit... I wasn't planning on just sticking a bit of pipe in, it was more do I need the full kit or will the underfloor heating pipe, mat, etc. connected to a trv work but you answered anyways.

Looks kind of similar to the NuHeat kit I've linked to above, but haven't heard of Flexiro before
 
If you run it off the radiator system I guess the heating in the house will have to be on for it to work?

I'm not sure it's worth doing in a conservatory unless you have a decent amount of insulation below the screed.
 
If you put two zone valves and a pair of thermostats in, then you can run the house separately to the conservatory. It works well.

I have same arrangement (albeit not in a conservatory).

As mentioned insulation will be important to get the benefit out of it.
 
Have a look at FHV kits. Possibly similar to your linked kit. It incorporates a blending valve TRV and some have a floor probe.

It doesn't need another pump or manifold. Could also incorporate a blending valve to recycle some of the cooler CH return water back into the flow to drop the temp for better water temp control.

Thanks, the main issue I have is that the boiler is in the other side of the house, can I put a zone valve anywhere or does it have to be next to boiler?

Mine are near the boiler, I think on the ‘flow’ pipes, so I would think these could be placed wherever you can.
I used a ZRU system from polypipe. Which has a pump, and a simple branch type connection.

It works a treat, think it will run up to 35sqm.
