Me too, D in English and C in maths, but dyslexics will be protected and I suspect History or Science will also be interchangeable.
We could afford a tutor, but I would wager most can't!
It helped the bloke a lot. Well enough to get a decent pass.

Yep, good education works. Which is why so many people benefit from the education they get at university.
They also aren't saying you can't do a foundation year, which is a great route for someone who didn't get enough points.
If your school will let you, which not all will. It is a barrier, that will hit people who aren't comfortably middle class. And it's classic Tory party in that they probably never even thought about any edge cases.
Hell, will any old farts who have O Levels be able to do late in life degrees? What about international qualifications?
Pointless chest thumping to hide that there's now a 9% increase in taxes for nurses but not for bankers.

Now why would you say that? What, that I'm 'old'? Would you point out the bleeding obvious if I was disabled, gay or black?
Also, by making this about loans rather than just admissions it means that stupid kids can still get a university education when people who's parents can't pay won't.
Universities are businesses. Bums on seats is all they are interested in. Give them a chance and they'll lower that bar as low as they can go.Surely if they're stupid they can't get in?
Oi. Nosey Parker. Tell everyone what you do for a living and I'll answer that question for you. Deal? So, did you get a degree?
