University students to be refused student loans......

Me too, D in English and C in maths, but dyslexics will be protected and I suspect History or Science will also be interchangeable.

We could afford a tutor, but I would wager most can't!

I know some one who was crammed. This included A level areas to concentrate when the time came to take them. It helped the bloke a lot. Well enough to get a decent pass.

Yep, good education works. Which is why so many people benefit from the education they get at university.

What disturbed me was that the predicted questions did crop up. Both 0 and A level. Enough of them anyway.

They also aren't saying you can't do a foundation year, which is a great route for someone who didn't get enough points.

If your school will let you, which not all will. It is a barrier, that will hit people who aren't comfortably middle class. And it's classic Tory party in that they probably never even thought about any edge cases.

Hell, will any old farts who have O Levels be able to do late in life degrees? What about international qualifications?

Pointless chest thumping to hide that there's now a 9% increase in taxes for nurses but not for bankers.

'Or equivalent'...

Not only that, but for those that change their minds on what to study. When I was at Coventry I was friends with a guy doing a degree in Automotive Engineering - he was from a very good school, but was into the arts - he did Drama, English, and something else (History maybe) A levels, but only while studying A levels developed an interest in cars when he restored a Morris Minor. So the foundation route was needed for him.

No idea if he ever made it, lost touch with him years ago. But he was working at Daewoo for a bit after uni.

What, that I'm 'old'? Would you point out the bleeding obvious if I was disabled, gay or black?
Now why would you say that?

Oh that's right, as usual you skip the opportunity to add anything useful...

So, did you get a degree?

Also, by making this about loans rather than just admissions it means that stupid kids can still get a university education when people who's parents can't pay won't.

Surely if they're stupid they can't get in?
