Unknown Markings on road / pavement

Hi Forum,

Hope someone can help / insights / information. I came home from work yesterday and saw some markings outside my property. (see picture attached). I checked the local planning site, but there are no references to my road (but could be early days). I did a quick google search and it does say yellow tends to be related to gas.

I have not received any letters, or notices and checking on the rest of the street, no other markings either. The only thing that comes to mind is checking with the local council to see if they are aware of anything in the pipeline.

Thanks for any advice, for what this might mean (or any other references I could check).

It will be a warning to somebody who is going to dig up the road. Very common. The survey reduces the amount of accidental damage to pipes and utilities.
 
Thanks John. That does make sense and implies some works are coming. Probably best to check back with the council.
 
When they did that down my road it was for a rainwater gully. Arrow indicated direction of flow to the sewer.
