Upstairs lighting problems

We tried to change our landing ceiling pendant and it is now not working. The lights in the upstairs 3rd bedroom and loft are also not working (presumably as they are on the same circuit), but the upstairs bathroom and two bedrooms work.

The light is connected to two switches, one upstairs and one downstairs. The switches also control the downstairs light and upstairs bathroom light which are working normally.

We have identified which cables are which. Looking at the photo the cables are: (note the earth wires are currently uncovered).

The first cable goes downstairs either to switch or fuse box?

The second to the loft light

The third cable goes to an electric junction in the loft.

The fourth to the upstairs light switch (that controls both this light and the bathroom light).

Any guidance on which wires go where on a standard 3 loop pendant would be appreciated. We assume we are doing something wrong with the constant and switches live but not sure what.

Do you have any voltage measuring instruments?
The switch cable needs to be identified first of all.
Have you tripped any breakers or blown any fuses whilst working on the wiring ?

No, we have a mains ‘screwdriver’ tester but no other equipment. I assume we haven’t tripped any breaker/fuses as we have check the fuse box but please say if there is another way to check this. Thanks Terry

Sorry do you have one switch that switches both your landing light on and the Bathroom on at the same time?

The way those bare cables are at the moment look dangerous as one could be live and the conductors are awfully close to one another.
