UPVC vs ALIMINIUM sliding doors.

Been quoted an extra £1200 to have aliminium, been told they are a lot better than UPVC but whats the real difference, are they really worth the premium?

An extra 1200 is a lot to stomach.
 
UPVC tend to be heavy and bulky, alli ones are slimmer in looks.
Even with thermal break alli is more likely to suffer condensation on the frame.
Alli used to need hardwood frames, to stop corrosion where it met the brick which need upkeep, maybe there are other options now.
If you are near the sea like me alli hates salt water in the air, my cctv cameras and original door furniture corrode very fast.
All down to personal choice really.

The difference in price is £1200 to install compared to UPVC.

Size is a custom size, approximately 1700mm, looking online they only appear to be approximately £700-850 more, are they more complex to install or something?

Yes what i mean is are the aliminium more tricky to fit as online the price seems to be approximately £800 over the UPVC but ive been quoted £1200 extra
 
You can not compare a quote from an online company to someone having come round and looked at the job.
