Using plant food

Hi

Bought some stuff from local garden centre earlier. (Boost made by Westland) I noticed instructions say “don’t apply directly to foliage”.,

How on earth do you achieve that when using watering can? Also when you have quite a few flowers crammed into a small are? Impossible to navigate to avoid foliage in these circumstances?

Take the rose off of the spout and water directly at the base of the plant.
