Using wet/dry vacuum to clean gutters

Hello.

I need my gutters and downpipes cleaned and I saw that the pros use specialist gutter vacs, which are pretty pricey. However, the specs for the actual vacs don't look any different to the wet/dry vacs that you can get for under £100.

Am I missing something?

The gutters aren't particularly accessible, plus one of the downpipes is clogged, so I thought this might be a solution.

Certainly looks like the "long bent tube" is the problem. Extension hoses for wet/dry vacs are more expensive that the vac
 
Copper tube comes in 15mm and 22mm and 3m lengths and is easily bendable and you can solder to it for strength... All you need to do is make up an adaptor for your hose.

I can see gutter vacs working on fine dry material, but the majority of what you get in gutters e.g. moss leaves etc is damp and /or bound in with other material.

In the real world, a vacuum cleaner would surely either lack the suction power, or clog up quickly. Better in most situations to use a ladder and clean out by hand, you can see needs to be picked up.

That said, some of the gutter vacs come with a cordless inspection camera fitted near the end of the suction tube!
